I am trying to rewrite a prac for second year biomedical students. At the moment they are trying to detect polymorphisms in the CF locus but owing to inexperience and not very sensitive detection mechanisms it is very difficult to get positive results.
I am trying to develop a prac based on the detection of Y chromosome-specific and X chromosome-specific repetitive sequences, in combination with a ALU repeat to check DNA concentration on the blot.

Does anyone have a plasmid or plasmids which contain probes for these sequences? And also some more info on the sequences they recognise? It would help the students and myself from getting frustrated with their pracs.

Thanks very much
