I am doing a survey of molecular biologists/geneticists/biotech specialists to get their opinion of what they believe the top 2 scientific accomplishments occured in the above areas for the decade Jan 1 1990 to Dec 31, 1999.

I know it's very hard to pick just two, but give it a whirl.

I would love to hear from anyone with your suggestion. Please give enough info so I can track things down, or look for an original source if you don't provide it.
