Introduction to the Design of Experiments

  October 04, 2004

Creascience, Montreal
Oct 13-15,2004

This session covers the fundamentals of statistics: the importance of recognizing the type of variables (role in the experiment and the values taken), descriptive statistics, relating variables, inferential statistics (mechanism, what is a p-value, the risks involved in statistical testing). Then, the training covers the fundamentals of design of experiments: accounting for variability (randomization, replication, blocking and controls), the construction of experiments to compare 2 groups, more than 2 groups (factorial designs) as well as statistical tools for the analysis of the data collected from such experiments: Student Test (T-test), analysis of variance and multiple comparisons.
