HUMAN GENOME PROJECT: Commercial Implications

Cambridge Healthtech Institute , San Francisco, CA, USA
March 4-6, 1996

Program:
Progress in map construction, sequencing of cDNA libraries, and the demonstrated success of various intensive sequencing efforts have made the prospect of achieving the goals of the Human Genome Project appear realistic. Further progress will still be needed in such areas as gap-filling strategies, the use of bioinformatics to convert sequence data into useful structural and functional information, and even faster and less expensive sequencing processes. Incremental sequencing advances as well as breakthrough approaches to sequencing, including a session on miniaturization, will be featured. The third day of the meeting will again feature progress reports on efforts to translate data from sequencing into commercial products, with an emphasis on therapeutics.
