On behalf of the Organising and Scientific Committees, it is our special pleasure and honour to invite you to attend and actively participate in the International Conference on Diseases of the Pancreas, Biliary Tract and Duodenum. The main aims of the Conference are to bring together pathologists and clinicians from Slovenia and other Central European countries and to provide them with the opportunity to present their own scientific results, to exchange practical experiences and to discuss diagnostically difficult cases covering a broad range of inflammatory, preneoplastic as well as exocrine and endocrine neoplastic diseases of the pancreas, duodenum and biliary tract. No concurrent sessions have been planned for the oral presentations of invited lectures and free papers, and all of the posters will be on display for the entire duration of the scientific programme. Furthermore, attendance at the Conference will provide an opportunity to meet the experts and to upgrade knowledge of the most recent diagnostic and therapeutic advances. The list of invited speakers includes internationally recognised clinicians and pathologists from Slovenia and neighbouring countries: E. Brenčič, E. M. Gadžijev, S. Markovič, V. Mlinarič, V. Pegan, L. Pleskovič, S. Štepec (Ljubljana, Slovenia), G. Zamboni (Verona, Italy), M. Belicza, K. Pavelić and B. Vucelić (Zagreb, Croatia).
The honorary guest lecturer of the Conference is Professor Günther Klöppel from Kiel (Germany), President of the European Society of Pathology and a world authority in the field, who will give an introductory overview of preneoplastic lesions of the pancreas. We expect the Conference to demonstrate the progress of clinical medicine in the field during recent years and to confirm the importance of close collaboration between clinicians and pathologists in everyday clinical practice, as well as in scientific projects. Furthermore, you are all kindly invited to enjoy the architectural heritage of Ljubljana and the picturesque countryside of Slovenia. We sincerely wish your attendance at the Conference to be a fruitful, enjoyable and memorable experience.

Posters will be exhibited in a specially marked area of the Entrance Hall. Vertical display boards for posters measure 120 cm height x 100 cm width. The authors are requested to fix the posters before 8.30am.
Registration :
There will be no Registration Fee for participation at the scientific events of the Conference.
Please complete and return the enclosed Application Form not later than April 15, 1999.
Official Language
English only. There will be no simultaneous translation.
Call for Papers
Deadline for submission of short communications in the usual form of a short scientific paper up to 4 pages or abstract in a printed copy and on a PC compatible diskette is April 15, 1999. 'Proceedings of the International Conference DDDD' will be available at the Registration Desk.
Certificate of Attendance
A Certificate of Attendance will be issued at the Registration Desk.
Medical Chamber of Slovenia will aknowledge the Conference for the licence extension.
