Genetic predisposition to infectious disease

INSERM , AIX-LES-BAINS, France
14-18 october 1999

The identification of host genes controlling the response to infectious agents is a tremendous challenge. These genetic findings are expected to have major implications for the control of infectious diseases. This conference will present the recent advances obtained in genetic susceptibility/resistance to parasites, bacteria, viruses and prions. The different methods and strategies that can be used in humans and animals to identify genetic factors predisposing to infectious diseases will be discussed. This multidisciplinary conference will bring together scientists from various fields such as human and animal genetics, immunology, microbiology, epidemiology, paediatrics and infectious diseases medicine.
