This plenary session will inform delegates on what the UK National Patient Safety Agency is doing to bring about change in the UK National Health Service. Comparisons and possible lessons for the Australian health care system will also be explored.

Themes covered in this session will include shared lessons from inquiries, balancing the need for accountability versus the impact of inquiries on the country, health care systems and organisations, communities, patients and their families and individuals.

This outstanding Plenary Session will include a hypothetical and panel discussion to explore the complex needs of statute law, negligence law, clinical practice and health care administration and the need for clinical buy-in, in order to improve patient experience and safer health care outcomes.
