A Proficient Approach to Periodontal Treatment for all Hygiene Departments - Webinar By MentorHealth

  August 22, 2012

MentorHealth, Online Training
2012-09-26

Overview: The program starts with the recognition of the presence of periodontal disease. It is a protocol that is based on the presence of pocket depth and bleeding upon probing. The use of full-mouth disinfection, appropriate antiseptic and antimicrobial adjuncts, and 21st century monitoring of the periodontal pathogens with laboratory based DNA-PCR technology, is all included in the sequence of therapy.

The program utilizes our current ability to monitor the effects of our therapy by actually measuring the levels of pathogens utilizing a simple salivary test. We have never been able to do this before, and it increases the predictability of our therapy many times over. All management programs up to this time have been somewhat effective, however, there has never been anyway to determine the long-term results. This protocol is based on literature that extends the studies out to 24 months of successful suppression of the high and moderate risk periodontal pathogens. This is, indeed, a recipe for success.

Why should you attend : In order to meet today's standard of care it is critically important for dental caregivers. Dentists and hygienists, as well as dental assistants, understand the need for the recognition and management of periodontal disease.

Periodontal disease affects more than 80% of all adults, yet less than 3% of insurance submissions are for any form of periodontal therapy. If your practice has been providing scaling and root-planing as part of routine adult prophylaxes, maintaining bleeding from visit to visit, and submitting insurance claims for prophylaxis fees, then this presentation is mandatory for your entire office staff.

Your hygiene department will become much more than a "loss leader" your staff will be more engaged in the actual treatment of patients and thus be more enegized, and most of all your patients will benefit from the appropriate care they deserve.
