"Race" is meaningless genetically, a confounding variable in medical research, and studies should no longer be based on it, geneticists argued at a briefing in New York on Nov 14. They highlighted "myths" that link ethnicity to specific diseases, calling race a "crutch" and a proxy for family lineage that can only confuse further research in genomics.
